January 2008 BCUDL Update
The BC Universal Design for Learning (BC UDL) Project is creating interest in British Columbia’s education community. Teachers, administrators, and parents are interested in the experiences of the 8 BC UDL Project schools. We are happy to report that our teams have been studying hard and working hard and are building content for the new UDL learning object repository (BCUDL-LOR) hosted on the SET-BC website. By March 2008 we will be ready to open up the BCUDL-LOR to teachers in BC. We will invite teachers to visit the LOR to download lessons that focus on Language Arts and are based on Universal Design principles. To complement the LOR lessons, we will produce video productions of the lessons by the project teachers. We are planning a local and provincial media blitz to spread the BCUDL-LOR grand opening news.
We have received requests to make UDL presentations to the Leadership Committee of the BC Principals and Vice Principals Association, to SET-BC and SET-BC District Partners on February 19 at their Provincial District Partners’ Event, to the Secondary Principals Association in Victoria school district, to Project schools’ staff meetings, to parents’ groups at many of our schools, to the BCTF Conference on Equity and Inclusion January 25-26, and to the Association for Community Living Conference on June 12-14.
We are enthused! LATA and PITA (provincial specialists associations) and the principals of the Burnaby School District are in the planning stages for a UDL themed multi-site conference for next October’s Provincial Professional Development day. It would be a wonderful opportunity to hear a Universal Design for Learning keynote presentation and see UDL-based presentations by the BC UDL Project teams.
I look forward to sharing our experiences, in this blog, as our journey continues.

Hi Constance.
I was wondering if you are going to include (or have asked cast if you could include) the lesson plans they have on their site, to your BC-UDL LOR site.
